Munkhbat & Altangeret live in manholes that provide Ulaan Baatar Mongolia with hot water. Inside, their living environment is hot and humid, attracting hoards of flies and other insects.

Mongolia: Surviving the Winter

Richard Wainwright traveled to Mongolia to document the tough and lonely existence of street children, focusing on two boy's daily struggle for survival in the capital, Ulaan Baatar, in his photo essay Mongolia: Surviving the Winter, now appearing on Gaia Photos,
Gaia Photos is a new international photography source comprised of 41 photojournalists from around the world whose mission is to promote quality and diversity in documentary photography.
Since earning a Documentary Photography degree at University of Wales Newport, Richard has been reporting on news and humanitarian issues. Since 2002 he's worked as a senior staff photographer at the Jersey Evening Post.
Mr. Wainwright also produces documentary photography and his assignments include working closely with NGOs and aid agencies recording their activities, writing stories and producing multimedia packages.
Since 2003, he's been filing news pictures for Corbis and his photographs have been widely published in publications such as Newsweek, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Independent and The Irish Independent.
His work has resulted in numerous photography exhibitions in Jersey, London and Australia.
