Photography Guest Of The Week Ivan Blazhev - Macedonia

That's how Ivan Blazhev, this weeks Photography Guest of The Week, begins his photo story Macedonia: April Fool’s Day, just posted on Gaia Photos, the new photography website that's being book marked by editors from around the globe.

Ivan was born in 1974 in Skopje, Macedonia. With a degree in filmmaking from New York's Brooklyn College in the USA, he worked in the film industry from 1996 - 2000, directing short films, documentaries, music videos and commercials. In 2001, Ivan left the film scene and began his immersion in photography, initiating numerous projects. Currently Ivan works as a freelance photographer and has contributed to many Macedonian newspapers and magazines.

Ivan's work has been exhibited at national and international museums and gallery venues and his "Macedonia Dreaming" was featured in the "Beyond Walls - Eastern Europe After 1989" program at the 2008 Noorderlicht Photo Festival.

His books, published by Macedonian Center of Photography include: Sparks - Initiatives for Safe School (2004), by Templum: Macedonia Dreaming (2007) and Skopje With Eyes Wide Open (2008).

Blazhev has taught photography at several institutions and currently teaches at the Macedonian Center of Photography and the European University - Republic of Macedonia. His work is distributed by Anzenberger Agency.
